A Serendipitous Sunday Sojourn to not so Sunny Ararat ….
June 26, 2012I was lucky enough on the weekend to catch Kate Just’s “The Knitted Works” Exhibition at the Ararat Regional Gallery. And while that was not the purpose of my visit to Ararat … that’s a whole other story … what I saw made it somewhat worthwhile.
The collection features a number of oversized sculptural knitted pieces from several of her exhibitions … Paradise, My Daphne, Boundary (LOVE) and the very impressive The Garden of Interior Delights … a knitted depiction of the female reproductive system.
So while Ararat felt like it just may have been a wasted journey (nothing happens in Ararat on a Sunday except the lunatic asylum apparently) … being a keen knitter bordering on the verge of wider experimentation … I was really pleased that I was able to catch this exhibition.
